YEON Sang-ho

YEON Sang-ho was born in Seoul, Korea in 1978. After graduating from Sangmyung University with a degree in Painting, he made short animation filmes including <D-DAY>, <THE HELL> and <LOVE IS PROTEIN> that are invited to international film festivals.

<THE KING OF PIGS> is his first debut feature and it won NETPAC Award, CGV Movie Collage Award, Best Director Award by Director's Guild of Korea at the Busan Int’l Film Festival in 2011.

His next animation <The Fake>, which dealt with cultish religions in Korea, was even more successful, garnering enormous acclaim around the globe and plenty of festival invitations, starting with a spot in the Toronto International Film Festival’s Vanguard Section.

Following that, YEON prepared his zombie apocalypse animation <Seoul Station>, which was released in 2015. That same year he went into production on his very first live action film, <Train to Busan>, which directly followed the events of <Seoul Station> as the zombie virus finds its way on to the high speed KTX train bound south for Busan.
